If you visit Mongolia this is a definitely must visit complex. It amazing that a statue of the proportion could be constructed in the steppes of Mongolia. The entire site can be summed up in one word - magnificent. Located to the west side of the parking lot, one will find 10 statues of Mongolian warriors on horseback. A Modern hotel complex, golf course, theater, sports area and artificial lake with a garden will be added to the site over the next several years. Two hundred fifty tons of steel was utilized in the construction of the statue. The interior of the building, houses an art gallery, restaurant (2nd floor), conference hall, game room and two gift shops. Strongly suggest wearing warm clothing in winter as the platform is subject to strong winds and freezing temperatures. On the viewing platform you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Mongolian countryside. Below the statue is a museum of Mongolian history, surrounded by 36 pillars, one for each of the Khan dynasty, Visitors to the statue can walk through the statue to the head of the horse (there is also an elevator if you are not inclined to tackle the narrow stairway). Fifty three steps lead up to the entrance of the monument. The statue dominates the open steppes of Mongolia and can be seen 10 miles away. The statue is 161 feet (50 meters) in height from it foundation to the top of the horses head. The monument has Genghis Khan sitting astride his horse facing in an easterly direction, surveying his empire. Enkhjargal stands at the banks of the Tuul River (Could not find the river due to snow and ice). The construction on the complex started in 2008 and is still ongoing.

Be sure to give yourself sufficient time to make the journey there and back. Due to weather conditions and very congested traffic, it took 2 hours to reach this complex in late November 2019. His name translates as вЂlike nine' and in Mongolia, the number nine has always been considered to be the luckiest number. The manner of Yesugei's death in such unpleasant circumstances was ironic. Somewhere on the Mongolian grasslands in the year 1171, a nine-year boy named Temujin, along with his mother, Hoelun, his three brothers and his two half-siblings were left to fend for themselves.
